Grid Rivals uses official iRacing Championship Points from each recorded race result, then applies a race time multiplier to balance out races of different lengths.
The race time multiplier exists to balance the value of races regardless of their length. Without it, a driver could run four 15-minute sprint races and earn up to four times the points of a driver who spent the same total time in a single one-hour endurance race — even though both put in the same amount of effort overall.
The multiplier is calculated as:
multiplier = race_time_minutes ÷ base_minutes (capped at 6×)
Using the default base of 30 minutes = 1×:
The base time and cap can be adjusted by the championship admins at any time.
Each team carries a pool of Reserve Drivers alongside its main active roster. Reserves do not earn championship points while they sit on the bench, but they are still tracked for race activity so they're ready to contribute immediately when called up.
At the start of Week 6 of the season, the bottom-ranked drivers from each team swap places with their team's reserve pool:
This gives every team member a reason to race consistently throughout the first half of the season.
No. Drivers can run unlimited official races, and every valid recorded race contributes to their total.
Grid Rivals is intended to encourage more participation in official iRacing races while creating a fun, friendly competition between the Team Demps and Team Malone communities.
Great question! Grid Rivals is officially abbreviated as TITS:
Yes, we're fully aware. And yes, we regret nothing. 🏎️
🎙️ Team Commentary
Team Demps Analysis
In the thrilling conclusion of this racing season, Team Demps finds themselves crossing the finish line last, with a dismal zero championship points to their name – a stark contrast to their rivals, Team Malone, who also haven't managed to score any points. The question on everyone's lips is: where did it all go wrong for Team Demps? Among the roster of 17 drivers, only a handful showed promise during pre-season testing – Al Lotufo and Zach Blaess were the standout performers, both demonstrating exceptional pace and consistency that had fans buzzing with anticipation. However, come race day, it seemed the pressure got the better of them, as neither driver managed to convert their potential into points. As we look towards next season, Team Demps will need to regroup, refocus, and channel their inner speed demons if they hope to challenge the competition. The racing world eagerly awaits to see if this underperforming team can turn things around and reclaim their glory days. Until then, it's full throttle ahead for Team Malone!
Team Malone Analysis
In the thrilling finale of the championship season, Team Malone finds itself trailing in the rearview mirror, having amassed a grand total of 0 points across all races - a statistic that's as disappointing as a flat tire on pit row! The top performer for this beleaguered team has been none other than Matt Malone, who's proven to have the speed and determination of a cheetah... but unfortunately, a cheetah that can't seem to find its way out of a sand trap. Ian Layne has shown flashes of brilliance, reminiscent of a Formula 1 driver navigating Monaco's treacherous streets, but consistently finds himself mired in the same points-less pitfall as the rest of the team. As the season comes to an end, it's clear that Team Malone's performance has been more like a bumper car ride at a carnival than a high-speed race on the track. But fear not, dear fans! With a fresh season ahead, there's always room for pit stops, tire changes, and a whole lot of overtaking! So buckle up and let's hope this team can finally break free from the starting grid and give us the nail-biting races we crave.
